SINGAPORE, 1 November 2018 – The member organizations of the Asia-Pacific ESCO Industry Alliance (APEIA) held its second meeting here earlier today. Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) president Alexander Ablaza and his China counterpart Lily Zhao Ming, co-chaired the APEIA meeting in Singapore on the sidelines of the Asia Clean Energy Summit (ACES) 2018.

The organizations which participated in the 2nd APEIA meeting were:

  • China: ESCO Committee of the China Energy Conservation Association (EMCA)
  • India: Alliance for an Energy-Efficient Economy (AEEE)
  • Japan: Japan Association of Energy Service Companies (JAESCO, by video conference)
  • Philippines: Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2)
  • Singapore: Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS)
  • Taiwan: Taiwan Energy Service Association (TESA)

The Korea Association of ESCO (KAECO) was the 7th organization which agreed to co-sign the Joint Statement to form APEIA, but was not able to send a delegate to the Singapore meeting.

The six participating organizations agreed to form a governing board and a legal entity for the regional platform and has charged EMCA and SEAS to pursue legal research related to options for registration of an international non-governmental organization. Also, country associations were tasked to chair committees for reports and knowledge management, training and strategy and planning.

Singapore-based energy efficiency market stakeholders, including a delegation from the Energy Studies Institute of the National University of Singapore, were able to attend the second half of the APEIA meeting, during which member organizations delivered presentations on the energy efficiency and ESCO market opportunities in the respective country markets.
