GGGI invites PE2 head to ADB annual meeting event on infrastructure initiative

ADB HEADQUARTERS, MANDALUYONG CITY, 4 May 2018 — The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) invited Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance president Alexander Ablaza to a knowledge-sharing event at the Asian Development Bank (ADB)’s 51st Annual Meeting of Governors entitled “Mainstreaming Green Growth through the Belt and Road Initiative” to be held this morning at the ADB Headquarters in Manila. The event will bring together various finance and development ministers and policy-makers, private sector, development partners, media, academe, civil society organizations and other relevant stakeholders across the Asia and the Pacific.

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a program led by China which aims to invest in projects addressing significant regional infrastructure gaps in agriculture, water management, electric power, communications, and transport in support of promoting economic cooperation among countries along the proposed BRI route. The GGGI knowledge sharing event will feature opportunities and challenges on the BRI, as well as high-level dialogues among the governments of Philippines, China, Mongolia/Vietnam, GGGI, and ADB on key policies in greening the initiative and accelerating investments and technology deployment.

GGGI Director-General Frank Rijsberman and ADB Senior Advisor to the President Ayumi Konishi are scheduled to open the knowledge-sharing event.

GGGI and PE2 are in discussions on possible cooperation relating to the acceleration of energy efficiency policy reforms and market transformation in the Philippines.
