HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, Quezon City, 25 September 2018 – Vice Chairman of the Committee on Energy (COE) and 1-CARE Party-list representative Carlos Roman L. Uybarreta sent the Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) his congratulatory message and note of support as the Alliance pushes its crusade for energy efficiency in the country.

Rep. Uybarreta is also a co-author of the consolidated substitute bill on energy efficiency and conservation (EE&C), and chair of the COE Technical Working Group, which deliberated on the said bill in the House of Representatives of the 17th Congress.

Rep. Uybarreta and DOE Asec. Robert Uy were both intending to attend the PE2 Networking Cocktails, but the House plenary deliberations on the DOE budget were unfortunately rescheduled for the same evening of 25 September 2018.

MR. ALEXANDER ABLAZA
Chairman
Board of Trustees
Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance, Inc.

Dear Mr. Ablaza:

Greetings!

It is with great pleasure to express my warmest congratulations as you celebrate your PE2 Networking Cocktails event today! Your efforts in promoting energy efficiency is truly commendable! I believe that your event will greatly help in spreading knowledge about the importance of energy efficiency and conservation and how it will benefit the different sectors.

Being a signatory in the Paris Climate Change Agreement of 2016, there is a need to pass a legislation that will be consistent with the goals of the agreement. Hence, I co-authored HB No. 1220 or the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Bill. I am also the Chairman of the Technical Working Group of the House of Representatives Committee on Energy that deliberated on the said bill. The bill will create a comprehensive national energy efficiency and conservation plan and institute a body that will monitor and evaluate its implementation. And with the pending passage of this bill, we can be assured that the government and the private sector will be able to cut down their electricity costs and be incentivized for being compliant with the energy efficiency standard.

And with these foregoing, may you continue crusading for our shared advocacy. Be it known that you will always have my support on this matter. Let us work together in advancing our cause for the benefit of the Filipino people! Again, my warmest congratulations!

Sincerely,

Signature, House COE Vice Chair Carlos Roman Uybarreta
