MAKATI CITY, 8 August 2018 – The Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, Inc. (ICCPI) and the Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) swapped welcome messages as both PE2 and ICCPI agreed to accept each as other as associate member in the Alliance’s pioneer reciprocal arrangement between two non-state, non-market civil society organizations. The reciprocal arrangement was initially discussed when PE2 president Alexander Ablaza met with ICCPI executive director Lorens Ziller, deputy director for business development and special projects Leonardo Brugé and membership and institutional relations manager Justine Celine May Amon in the ICCPI office on 22 June 2018.

In a note earlier today to ICCPI, PE2 president Alexander Ablaza said, "PE2 is excited by the forging of the ICCPI-PE2 collaboration through the reciprocal associate membership arrangement that both organizations were quick to support and implement. It opens a new area of cross-networking, knowledge exchange and even cooperation in the area of policy reform and energy efficiency market development. We specifically welcome dialogues and informal conversations on how our collaboration could link end-users and buyers with providers of energy efficiency solutions, technologies, capital, finance, consultancy, performance contracting and other services."

In an earlier e-mail exchange on 4 July 2018, Ablaza added, “According to a study performed by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, Italy is now tied with Germany, beating France, UK and Japan, as the world's best performing economy as far as energy efficiency is concerned. This only strengthens my other hunch that Italy would be a good source market for energy efficiency consulting, technologies, services and business models.”

Legally registered as “Camera di Commercio Italiana nelle Filippine, Inc,” ICCPI was incorporated locally on 28 March 2011 with the aim of facilitating business relationships between Italy and the Philippines. ICCPI is a non-profit organization duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the Philippines. ICCPI is governed by rules and regulations in line with the general guidelines of Assocamere Estero, the Italian Association of Chambers of Commerce abroad to promoting Italian SMEs, investments and the “Made in Italy.”

The Italian chamber’s mission is to promote business and networking opportunities between Italian, European and Filipino entities as well as between its members and other partner organizations, associations, corporations, professionals, and inspired individuals. The organization aims to create new opportunities, build bridges and enrich its members' business networks. It aspires to serve as a value-adding partner of its members for the development and support of its businesses. ICCPI is also active in the EU-Philippines Business Network.
