Senate COE thanks PE2, other energy stakeholders

PASAY CITY – 14 December 2018. Senator Sherwin T. Gatchalian led the Committee on Energy (COE) of the Senate of the Philippines in thanking the Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2), the Department of Energy (DOE) and other energy sector stakeholders during a thanksgiving luncheon held here earlier today. Senator Gatchalian gathered key partners who rendered support to the COE during the last few months of the 17th Congress, especially for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE&C) bill and the Energy Virtual One-Stop Shop (EVOSS) bill.

PE2 asks Congress to decouple EE&C and TRABAHO bills

MAKATI CITY – 6 December 2018. The Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) formally requested the 17th Congress today, through two separate letters to relevant standing committees in both chambers, to decouple the fiscal incentives provision of the pending Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE&C) bill from that of the Tax Reform for Attracting Better and Higher- Quality Opportunities (TRABAHO, fka TRAIN Package 2) bill.

Energy conservation bill passed on final reading

The House of Representatives unanimously passed on third and final reading House Bill 8629 or the proposed "Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act," which seeks to encourage the efficient utilization of energy and ensure that its use will promote sustainable development.

All 199 House Members present during the voting thumbed up HB 8629 whose authors include former President and now House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The bill aims to push for the judicious conservation of energy resources to minimize their adverse impacts on the environment.

House approves EE&C bill on 3rd reading, 199-0

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, QUEZON CITY – 3 December 2018. Just three session days after the measure was approved on 2nd reading, the House of Representatives approved on 3rd reading House Bill no. 8629, An Act Institutionalizing an Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE&C) Program, during a plenary session held earlier today. House Bill no. 8629 was introduced on the floor by Assistant Majority Leader and Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Energy (COE), Rep. Jose Enrique S. Garcia III, during the plenary session on 3 December 2018.

House approves EE&C bill on 2nd reading after PE2 seeks swift action by Rules Committee

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, QUEZON CITY – 27 November 2018. The House of Representatives approved on 2nd reading House Bill no. 8629, An Act Institutionalizing an Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE&C) Program, during a plenary session held earlier today. House Bill no. 8629 was sponsored on the floor by the Chairman of the House Committee on Energy (COE), Rep. Lord Allan Jay Q. Velasco during the plenary session on 27 November 2018 presided by Deputy Speaker Munir M. Arbison.

Joint House committees submit HB 8629 on EE&C to Speaker Arroyo

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, QUEZON CITY – 21 November 2018. The Committees on Energy, Appropriations and Ways and Means submitted earlier today Committee Report no. 939, which submits House Bill no. 8629, An Act Institutionalizing an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program, to House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The committee report was signed by Reps. Maria Carmen S. Zamora, Lord Allan Jay Q. Velasco and Estrellita B. Suansing, on behalf of the Committees on Appropriations, Energy and Ways & Means, respectively, and co-sponsored by Rep. Carlos Roman L. Uybarreta.

PE2 seeks CCC and business sector push for EE&C bill passage in support of 1.5 degree climate challenge

PASAY AND MANDALUYONG CITIES – 19-21 November 2018. The Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) sought endorsements from the Climate Change Commission (CCC) and the business sector as the Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE&C) bill is led through the homestretch phases of the legislative process. PE2 president Alexander Ablaza expressed this appeal during various events of the Climate Change Commission (CCC), led by its vice-chairman and executive director, Secretary Emmanual M. de Guzman, through its celebration of CCC Week.
