The solar water heating system started operations in 2002 and continues to be in operation until this time. Second, both the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino and the Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel actively participated in the Philippine Chiller Efficiency Program in 2012. Both chilled water plants were redesigned to increase energy efficiency of the entire system, resulting in electricity savings as high as 30 percent. The Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino has likewise installed a dual piping system which flows gray water for flushing and black water for garden irrigation. This has resulted in up to 30 percent reduction in potable water consumption.
