MAKATI CITY, 24 April 2019 – The Malaysia Association of Energy Service Companies (MAESCO), originally registered as Pertubuhan SyarikatSyarikat Perkhidmatan Tenaga Malaysia, confirmed earlier today its intent to participate as the 8th member organization of the Asia-Pacific ESCO Industry Alliance (APEIA). This was confirmed by MAESCO president Zulkifli Zahari in his e-mail to APEIA co-chair Alexander Ablaza.

MAESCO also confirmed its participation in the 3rd APEIA Meeting and the APEIA Deep-Dive Workshop “Scaling up Energy Efficiency through ESCO Business Models,” both scheduled as part of the Asia Clean Energy Forum (ACEF) 2019, to be held in the Asian Development Bank (ADB) headquarters building in Mandaluyong City in the week of 17-21 June 2019. MAESCO president Zulkifli Zahari and vice president for policy and international affairs Ong Ching Loon will be in Manila in mid-June for these two APEIA events.

MAESCO was founded in September 2000 and has at least 63 members, classified according to special categories for energy performance contracting (EPC), non-EPC, affiliates, associate and international members. Key MAESCO activities include: Efficient Use of Electrical Energy Regulation Awareness Seminars, Training Courses for Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), Accredited Energy Measurement & Verification Professional (AEMVP); Workshop for REEM Services, EnMS, Monitoring & Targeting, EPC, Energy Audit (e.g. How to Choose the Right Chiller); Publicity & Promotion/Exhibition; Collaboration with Government, Institution & Private Sector in All EE Initiative Programs; Audit Equipment & Energy Audit Training Program and Liaison with International Organization and ESCO Associations.

APEIA was convened and founded by PE2 president Alexander Ablaza in June 2018. The 8 member organizations now include:

  • China: ESCO Committee of China Energy Conservation Association (EMCA)
  • India: Alliance for an Energy-Efficient Economy (AEEE)
  • Japan: Japan Association of Energy Service Companies (JAESCO)
  • Korea: Korea Association of Energy Service Companies (KAESCO)
  • Malaysia: Malaysia Association of Energy Service Companies (MAESCO)
  • Philippines: Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2)
  • Singapore: Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS)
  • Taiwan: Taiwan Energy Service Association (TESA)
