House panel approves bill granting incentives to energy efficient projects

Despite the suspension of work at the House of Representatives on Monday, the House Committee on Energy was still able to approve the substitute bill that will enhance the efficient use of energy by granting incentives to energy efficiency and conservation projects.

The House panel passed the draft substitute bill on the energy efficiency and conservation (EEC) in conjunction with House Bill 6642, which was authored by Camarines Sur Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte.

The House Committee on Energy chaired by Rep. Xavier Jesus D. Romualdo (Lone District, Camiguin) approved the inclusion of zero percent value added tax (VAT) in House Bill No. 6642. The bill, otherwise known as Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act of 2017, is authored by Rep. Luis Raymund F. Villafuerte, Jr (2nd District, Camarines Sur). It seeks to institutionalize energy efficiency and conservation, enhance the efficient use of energy, and grant incentives to energy efficiency and conservation projects. COE reviews EE&C bill incentives with PE2 inputs

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, Quezon City, 13 August 2018 – The Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) manifested before the Committee on Energy (COE) of the House of Representatives its two-point position on the consolidation of House Bill No. 6642 by Rep. Luis Raymund “LRay” Villafuerte, Jr. into the Substitute EE&C Bill. Submitted formally under a PE2 letter dated 9 August 2018, the new position of the Alliance was forwarded in response to the letter of COE Chairman Lord Allan Jay Q. Velasco to PE2 president Alexander Ablaza dated 7 August 2018.

ICCPI and PE2 welcome each other as associate member in pioneer reciprocal arrangement

MAKATI CITY, 8 August 2018 – The Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, Inc. (ICCPI) and the Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) swapped welcome messages as both PE2 and ICCPI agreed to accept each as other as associate member in the Alliance’s pioneer reciprocal arrangement between two non-state, non-market civil society organizations.
